الأمم المتحدة تحذر من استغلال وباء كورونا لاعتماد تدابير قمعية وتقليص حقوق الإنسان

أكد الأمين العام للأمم المتحدة، أنطونيو غوتيريش بدون أن يسمي دولا الخميس أنه "لن يكون مقبولا" أن تستغل دول وباء كوفيد-19 لتقليص الحقوق الإنسانية.

وذكر الأمين العام في بيان كشف فيه عن تقرير في هذا الشأن "في سياق تنامي القومية العرقية والشعبوية والاستبداد وتراجع حقوق الإنسان في بعض البلدان، قد توفر الأزمة ذريعة لاعتماد تدابير قمعية من أجل غايات لا علاقة لها بالوباء". وأضاف أن ذلك "غير مقبول".

وأضاف الأمين العام، الذي لا يملك سلطة ملزمة "يجب أن تكون الحكومات شفافة ومتجاوبة ومسؤولة أكثر من أي وقت مضى. الفضاء المدني وحرية الصحافة أمران أساسيان. يقع على عاتق منظمات المجتمع المدني والقطاع الخاص القيام بدور أساسي. علينا ألا ننسى أبدا أن التهديد يكمن في الفيروس وليس في الأشخاص".

ولفت غوتيريش إلى أنه "من خلال احترام حقوق الإنسان في وقت الأزمة، سنطور حلولاً أكثر فعالية وشاملة للحالة الطارئة اليوم وإعادة البناء غدًا".

وأشار تقرير الأمم المتحدة حول حقوق الإنسان ووباء كوفيد-19 إلى أن كيفية الاستجابة للوباء أمر أساسي من أجل مستقبل العالم، محذرا من ان ذلك قد يكون "للأفضل أو للأسوأ".

وأضاف التقرير "من الضروري العمل للأمد البعيد مع التخطيط لردودنا في الأمد القريب".
